About Me

Catherine has a deep love of body movement with a creative approach to yoga.

Trained to an advanced level of yoga teacher training with Jason Crandell, with additional trainings and workshops with Alexandria Crow, Annie Carpenter, Tiffany Cruikshank amongst others, all senior in their field and known as “teachers of teachers”.

Catherine teaches classes in some of London’s top studios, including Triyoga and East of Eden. She hosts workshops in London and the UK, retreats through the UK and Europe, and has taught yoga to premier league footballers and their youth teams. She teaches contemporary vinyasa flow style yoga, hatha, hot yoga, restorative, pre and postnatal, and has created A Fresh Approach – her own mentoring course for teachers – as well as a very comprehensive, Yoga Alliance accredited, 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher training course, which she hosts in London. She also mentors individual teachers on a one-to-one basis.

Catherine began her working life in the hairdressing industry – starting off as a junior, sweeping floors, running errands, working through an apprenticeship and beyond – before gaining a position with one of the leading global haircare and wellness brands, whose goal was sustainability and environmental leadership. Catherine had many roles over time within the company, and with each role she began to teach others. Although hairdressing seems worlds away from yoga, the teaching element was always there. The brand were innovative and well ahead of their time, introducing holistic speakers and meditation workshops for staff, and it was here that Catherine first learned about the Chakras, the subtle energy body, the benefits of being present, and first became introduced to Ayurveda and its concepts.

“I still know their mission statement, off by heart” she says, laughing!

These were her first steps towards yoga in the 90’s, and in all honesty she says “it just wasn’t the right class for me – I already did a lot of movement-based activity through dance and pilates, and I think I was looking for something else at that time”. Roll on ten years, with her world turned upside down and inside out – back on the mat, at the right moment, in the right class and with the loveliest teacher – the journey towards yoga and yoga teaching truly began.

Catherine says that the key thing yoga has taught her is to be present. She has a full life, a family that mean the world to her, and no matter how busy life gets at times, the tools of yoga continue to help her maintain her peace of mind.

“I have loved attending Catherine’s classes and workshops over the past few years, and one thing that always stays constant is Catherine’s warm welcome and positive energy. Catherine creates a friendly, inclusive environment in her teaching that means I am not afraid to push myself and give things a try, or to take it easy if that it what I feel I need. Either way I know that Catherine’s non-judgmental and intuitive approach will be supportive.

Catherine’s instruction seems deceptively straightforward, yet she places a strong focus on alignment and breathing which means I often progress further with asanas that I have found challenging (she has a way of sneaking you into them!). Catherine’s classes and workshops are creative, challenging and always interesting with great music.

I was also lucky to have Catherine teach a disco yoga session at my hen party which was so much fun and went down really well with the group, it was a great start to the party.

I highly recommend Catherine’s classes and workshops, she is an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced teacher and I continue to enjoy learning a great deal from her.”
